About

Marion Miller is a holistic counsellor, coach, artist, and the founder of The Eco Retreat.

After 25 years of practicing as a counsellor and mindfulness teacher in clinical and corporate settings, she's shifted focus to a 70-acre farm in Boonah, Victoria, to ground her work and art in the land. Soul Notes is Marion's digital journal of this transition. It’s a space where she shares the 'behind-the-scenes' of establishing the retreat and organic garden, the evolution of the art barn, and reflections on living a life of deep nature connection and reciprocity.

What Our Oaken Bones Reminds Us About Restorative Care & Well-being
Every now and then, a book crosses your path that feels less like a reading experience and more like a mirror to your own journey. Reading his account...

Deer carry a timeless, almost mystical aura, steeped in folklore and myth across the European cultures as symbols of grace, gentle strength, and...

The Ancient Mother in the Otways: An Imaginative Ecotherapy Way of Seeing Place
Life at the Boonah farm slows down, and after spending a large portion of my life in inner-city Melbourne, the change is dramatic. Perhaps it is the down-regulation of the nervous system you notice first, but it is also the environment, which is mostly wild, that has its own pace and presence, and somehow we become attuned. In the city, my ecotherapy practice was about actively rewilding a small space, clearing away the manicured grass to invite the wild back in. But here at the farm, the...

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people, with the Gulidjan and Gadubanud of the Kulin Nations as the Traditional Custodians of the lands, who have strived to retain their identity and cultures through more than two hundred years of dispossession and colonisation. While living, working, practicing and learning with these beautiful lands and waters we are committed to recognising how these lands were never ceded.
