Boonah Farm

Small Scale Organic Garden & Orchard

Across 70 acres, the Boonah farm is a rich, fertile land for organic farming nestled in the wild Otways Ranges in Victoria. We are inspired by the historical practice of small scale organic farming for providing a local food source and building community. We are currently in the process of planting out an orchard and establishing an organic kitchen garden to help sustain our local community and retreat offerings.

High in the hinterland of the Surf Coast, our farm in Boonah sits at the intersection of forest and sea. We grow within the resilient, rain-fed soils of the Otway foothills—a landscape defined by deep clays and ancient loams that require a patient, soulful hand to tend.

Our organic philosophy is one of deep listening and co-creation. We are working with the region’s unique high-rainfall to build a 'living' topsoil, rich in the organic matter that only this cool-climate sanctuary can provide.

Working with nature: balancing the heavy earth with restorative minerals and mindful stewardship. The result, we hope, is produce that carries the clarity and strength of the Otway air—honest, vibrant, and deeply connected to the place we call home.

Over the coming years we will share the insights and knowledge we learned from the practice of growing organic vegetables and an orchard along with regenerative farming via our blog, social media and newsletter and how you can get involved at The Eco Retreat.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people, with the Gulidjan and Gadubanud of the Kulin Nations as the Traditional Custodians of the lands, who have strived to retain their identity and cultures through more than two hundred years of dispossession and colonisation. While living, working, practicing and learning with these beautiful lands and waters we are committed to recognising how these lands were never ceded.
